The Volunteer Rating Index is a ranking system Hoya Blue has developed to reward volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Each time a volunteer attends a meeting or game, her or his attendance will be noted and points will be assigned. At various points throughout the year, the members with the highest ratings will receive rewards such as priority and discounts on Hoya Blue roadtrips, staff passes that allow early entry and guarantee front row seats at the Verizon Center for Men's Basketball games, and first shot at NCAA Tournament trips and tickets, as well as much, much more.
There are enough rewards available that a large number of volunteers will be able to take advantage of the system, so don't think it's only for the most hardcore Hoya Blue volunteers (though we always appreciate them and they will certainly benefit from this system).
For fairness and clarification, we have published the exact system we will be using this year.
The point ratings are as follows:
Women's Basketball Games: 11 pts
Football Games: 10 pts
Men's and Women's Soccer Games: 9 pts
Other Games and Events: 8 pts
Tabling: 3 pts per hour
Meetings: 2 pts
Points will only be counted at games that are officially attended by Hoya Blue; look for Hoya Blue Personnel Officer Nick Sementelli who will be taking attendance.
Your total number of points multiplied by 100, divided by total possible number of points = your raw score.
Seniority factor will be used as a tiebreaker:
Seniors x 1.003
Juniors x 1.002
Sophomores x 1.001
Freshmen x 1.000
Raw Score Multiplied by Seniority= VRI
Example: Raw Score of 85.124
Senior: 85.379
Junior: 85.294
Sophomore: 85.209
Freshman: 85.124
