The Georgetown Players Improv Group, G-PIG, was created to fill a comedy void on the Georgetown University campus. In its early days, the troupe performed in dorms and in outdoor venues, skyrocketing the group to fame and popularity among students and administrators alike. The Players soon found a home in Bulldog Alley, located in the Leavey Center on the Georgetown campus.
The troupe performed with Chicago's ImprovOlympic at Georgetown University in 1997, and was trained by Del Close and Charna Halpern at Chicago's ImprovOlympic while on their 1998 Midwestern U.S. Tour. In 2007, the Troupe traveled to New York City and studied long-form improv under Saturday Night Live cast member Bobby Moynihan.
Additionally, the Players have performed at the National Theatre, at several college improv festivals, at the North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) conference in Washington DC, and in DC schools. The Improv Troupe successfully made the crossover into other media, having four films to their credit as well as many appearances on GUTV. Troupe members have consistently been choosen to represent Georgetown in the D.C. Improv's Annual D.C's Funniest College Comic Competition.
