Pediatric Unit Halloween Party Volunteering
Tuesday, October 31:
10:00am-11:00am: cookie decorating: 10 people max
11:00am-12:15pm: helping kids get dressed up in costumes ready for trick or treating: 20 people max
12:15pm-1:30pm: Trick or Treating with the kids: 20 people max
Notes:
- You may (and are encouraged to) wear Halloween costumes to this event. But please make sure it is conservative. I was asked to make sure that people who come to volunteer have no open toed shoes, no bear mid drifts, and basically just no skanky clothes... Use your best judgement, guys...
- If you cannot make it during those time periods, we need approximately 40-50 plain sugar cookies made for cookie decorations. It would be great if this can be done by those who will be volunteering with cookie decorating, but if anyone else would like to help with this let me know.
- For those of you who will be there volunteering on the 31st, you will be asked to meet for a short period of time a few days before the event for Linda to meet you and give you a short tour of where you will be walking with the kids during the Trick or Treating.
- These slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. HOWEVER if you are not able to help out with this particular event, I was assured that the Pediatric Unit has a fall party during the week before Thanksgiving, and another Christmas party which will most likely be during one of our study days, and they will need help with both events.
So, if you are interested in this event, just email me back with two things: (a) what you are signing up for, and (b) what day on Oct. 26, 27, or 29 you would be able to meet at the hospital for your introductory meeting.

Light the Night Walk: (http://www.lightthenight.org/)
The Light the Night Walk is sponsored by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and it is this Thursday, October 14th at 6pm around Freedom Plaza in DC. Your participation will raise awareness and money to help stop these deadly blood cancers from drastically cutting short the lives of so many.
There will be a group of Georgetown students going to this event, and if you are interested in joining that group, email David Fajgenbaum at dcf7@georgetown.edu. If you would like to organize your own team, you can also do that! Teams are the heart of Light The Night. They are made up of people just like you: friends, family and colleagues joining together to accomplish a common mission - finding a cure! All those interested in learning more about how to participate in this year's Light The Night Walk in Washington, DC, please contact Josh Currier via email or call 703.960.1100 ext. 232.
